I went hunting with Dan this afternoon. Like camo bibs and a bright orange hat and foot warmers. Hunting.
We laid on top of a very large pile of logs facing a clearing with some woods on the other side. And we waited. And waited. And waited. Suddenly, deer started coming out of the woods like crazy, into the clearing. One right after another. I actually started laughing because they just kept coming, but I knew I had to be quiet and still. After a few minutes, they were close enough to take a shot so Dan took his shot.
Nailed it!
So off we went to find where it was -- and it turns out I'm good at tracking deer. Who knew? I found the blood trail and the deer before Dan did. Go me!
It was a large doe. Dan dragged it to the clearing and we waited for his friend to help him field dress it. I did fine for awhile -- I had no intention of helping, but had no problems watching -- but eventually I got the dry-heaves from the smell. I'm such a girl.
So he has officially gotten two deer this seasons. I would call that a resounding success. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go Google venison recipes.
