Evan had his follow-up optometrist appointment last night. He does, indeed, need glasses.

I had to put the dilating drops in his eyes before we left for the appointment because they take about 30-60 minutes to kick in. That was much easier than I anticipated it'd be, although I was fearing I didn't do it right because he didn't seem to have any issues seeing things. But yeah, his pupils were sufficiently huge by the time they got him in.

After several objective measurements, the doctor concluded that he is moderately to severely far-sighted. He doesn't have lazy eye(s) yet -- which seemed to surprised the doctor -- but if we don't get him into glasses now, he predicts Evan will develop lazy eye(s) and possibly do damage to his eyes. He explained it in detail, but I didn't fully comprehend the explanation. What I understood is that Evan needs glasses now, and he'll most likely grow out of them during elementary school. If we don't put him in glasses now, he'll need them eventually in childhood and may possibly need them for life at that point, without growing out of them.

So. After the exam, we told Evan he needs glasses, and asked him if he wanted to go pick some out. He was all too happy to comply! He ran into the waiting room and yelled, "Sean! I'm getting glasses like Daddy!" BAHAHA!

He was given four pairs to try on, and he tried on all four -- he looked in the mirror with each pair and smiled. He was particularly enthusiastic about a pair of ridiculously adorable blue RayBans. Thankfully, those were my first choice of the four and they fit him the best (the optician agreed). So here he is:

The bespectacled Evanator!

He'll get his glasses next week -- these are just the display pair. (He actually kept wanting to take these home with him -- we had to practically peel them off his face to put them back on the display, haha!)

Seriously. Can you handle the cuteness?
