And Now A Word From The Boys

Mommy took us camping this weekend and it was so fun! We went to a small campground called Leisure Lake, where we met up with a bunch of Mommy's friends and some of their kids. We got there around 9:30/10:00 Saturday morning, and our site wasn't ready but that's okay -- we wasted no time hitting the playground! They had a huge inflatable jumping pillow, and a pirate ship!

We're looking at the jumping pillow.... can't decide if we like it or not.

Sean: Yep, love it!

Evan: I like the pirate ship better

After we played on the playground for a little while, Mommy took us swimming in the lake. It wasn't great swimming weather, but we didn't care -- especially Sean.

Sean: I swam all the way out to the floating toys, then got scared, so Mommy had to swim out and help me back to the shallow end. I was fine after that. I liked the water slides!

Sean: I'm freaking out here -- Mommy's on her way to get me. I was fine.

Sean: This is much more my speed

Evan: I liked the beach -- the water was too cold.
After we were done swimming, we got ice cream!!!

And we played mini golf. We never played before so we made up our own rules.

Sean: I'm probably on my 15th stroke this hole. Good thing no one was behind us.

Evan: I found it easier to just put the ball into the hole most of the time.
Then we fed the baby goats...

You'd think we'd be tired after all this stuff but nope. We had tons of energy! So we went back to the playground! Our campsite was right across from the playground, so we got to play there a lot. There were tons of other kids too!

At dinner, we had hot dogs on the grill. But we didn't stick around long after that -- we went back to the playground while Mommy ate tonka toasters (we'll learn about those on a different trip... we had no interest this time)...

Later, they were doing hayrides around the campground. It wasn't really a hayride though - it was just a wagon ride. But it was still super fun!

As it got dark, Mommy and her friends were making s'mores, but we were both pretty content to just eat the marshmallows. Plain and unheated.

Hey, check out this fire we had though! One of the ladies we were camping with had some stuff you could sprinkle on the fire to turn it colors. Pretty cool, huh?

Mommy and her friends had a good time hanging out while we played with the other kids well into the evening.

When it was bedtime, we both passed right out. We were so excited to sleep in a tent, but too tired to stay awake and admire it.

Evan: I was sprawled out on the air mattress like a starfish when I fell asleep. I didn't want to wear the thermal underwear Mommy brought. I was comfortable in just my shorts. But I woke up in the middle of the night crying because I was cold, so Mommy had to put me in my sleeping bag and cover me up. I slept good after that.

Sean: I didn't want my thermal underwear either. When Evan started crying, Mommy saw me curled into a ball so she covered me up too. I slept good!

We both woke up around 7am and asked Mommy if we could be awake. She said yes, so we went to the playground. Then we came back and had powdered donuts for breakfast!

Even though we were in our sweatshirts and it was not even 65 degrees, we tried to get Mommy to take us swimming anyway. She said no. So we played on the playground some more!

Evan: I got to take a ride on the back of a golf cart with my new friend Ian and another girl we met at the campground:

When it was time to go home, we were sad, but we know we get to come back again! We really, really, really liked camping!
