Sean was fine this morning. Ate a relatively normal breakfast and played awhile before we left the house at about 9:30ish. Legoland is phenomenal! So many things, animals, characters, etc.... all built with Legos. Lots & lots & lots & lots of Legos. And Lego characters running around for photo ops:
Sean & I rode a roller coaster soon after we got there. I loved it! Sean... not so much. When it was over, he said, "Mommy, I don't want to do that again. That was fun." No idea what he meant by that, but when I mentioned riding a bigger one, he emphatically said, "No! It's too fast!" So I think roller coasters are not his bag. *sigh* Maybe Evan.....(?)
Sean did enjoy the jousting horse ride though -- it was more his speed...
After a few more rides, we stopped for a bite to eat, then continued on. I rode a couple of larger roller coasters and it was AWESOME! I haven't rode a roller coaster in years and I had forgotten how much fun it is. Yes. This from the girl who hates to fly. But that's a whole different topic.
This is where our day gets "interesting" (for lack of a more appropriate term). At about 3:30ish I wanted to hit one last ride that we could all enjoy, but Sean was saying his stomach hurt. We figured it was probably the heat (it was seriously hot down here today!) combined with the excitement and he was likely a bit tired. So we decided to just get a caricature of the boys, hit the souvenir shops, then head home. During the caricature, Sean got sick. He lost everything in his stomach, poor kid. Dan grabbed him to take care of him and Sean continued getting sick all the way to the bathroom -- they had to call park people to take care of it.
About 10 minutes later they came out, and Sean was looking pretty pale. The nice artist finished the drawing very quickly, bagged it for us, and we headed toward the exit. Sean continued to get sick off & on as we were leaving the park (Dan did quickly stop into a shop to grab a few little goodies). He was crying, he felt so miserable. Poor kid. But I had to giggle when he asked for some 'klepto' (translated: Pepto).
On the way home, both boys fell asleep (not surprising), but Sean woke up to get sick again. Thankfully we had a bag with us. And about five minutes from the house, he gets sick one last time, then smiles and says happily, "I feel better now!"
And would you believe the kid didn't throw up again the whole night?
It'd be cool if that's where the story ended but... well... there's more.
When we got back to the house, we all decide to get in the pool and hot tub (I wasn't worried about Sean overdoing it there because he doesn't really play in the water... he just sits on the steps and moves from the pool to the hot tub and back again). After awhile, we came inside and discovered that Sean's stomach issues have gone a little further south, to put it delicately.
Fabulous.
So we deal with that, get everyone cleaned up, give the boys both a bath... and as I'm running around like a headless chicken, I hear Dan yell "OH MY GOSH!" I look up and I see Evan on the bed with a whole bunch of white stuff around him. The kid had gotten into the bag that holds his powder mitt full of cornstarch, and there was cornstarch EVERYWHERE!
Fabulous.
All we could do at that point was laugh.
When all is said & done, I really can't complain about today. We got tons of great pictures at Legoland because thankfully, we were able to enjoy the better part of the day there before Sean got sick. Evan did beautifully despite not getting a nap, other than the 15 minute cat nap in the car on the way home from Legoland. The weather was great -- hot but bearable. The lines were really short so the wait times were minimal. And it was just plain fun. I would've loved to spend another day there.
Tomorrow: La Nouba!
(I have a ton of great pictures from today, but I'm going to have to just upload them to the Shutterfly site when I get home)
