Aunt Viva passed away while I was in Florida, so I attended her funeral on Wednesday midday. Then I had Sean's parent-teacher conference on Wednesday afternoon. He's doing very, very well in school! He's reading with comprehension at an end-of-2nd-grade reading level, and he's excelling in math and vocabulary.
One thing about math he has an issue with is that he can know an answer, he can know how to get to the answer, but he can't explain why that's the answer -- which sucks because I know how he feels. How exactly do you explain WHY 2+2=4 ?? It just does.
And apparently his organizational skills leave a lot to be desired. The teacher showed me his desk (the inside) -- yeah, needs help. I think that'll just come with time.
But overall, he's doing extremely well with almost all aspects of school! He got consistent "meets" and "exceeds" expectations remarks. So YAY!
Yesterday, Evan's daycare called around 4:00 to tell me he was sportin' a fever over 100. Which means he couldn't return to daycare today. Which would've been fine if he were actually sick. But he wasn't. He was totally fine all day today. No fever. Played like nothing ever happened. But at least I got the afternoon off to hang with my not-sick kid so..... silver linings.
