Today was the Michigan Mile at Lugnuts stadium. It's a one-mile run for kids ages 6-13 (they do it in waves by age group), and they also do a short 100-meter Kids Sprint for kids under 6. So I signed Sean up for the mile and Evan for the Kids Sprint. Sophia was signed up for the mile too.
My intention was to do the mile with Sean & Sophia as I did last year, then let Evan do the Kids Sprint. But when it came time for that mile, Evan insisted he go too. I totally hesitated, fully expecting that he'd get tired after about a half mile and I'd need to carry him the rest of the way. But not wanting him to feel left behind, I decided to bring him anyway.
Crazy Evanator ran all but maybe 60-90 seconds of that mile! Kid had wheels! I think only three times during the run, he would grab my hand and we'd walk a few seconds, then he'd take off again and I'd have to keep up with him. Holy smokes, he rocked that mile! I was rather proud and completely impressed -- I didn't know he had it in him!
Sean -- well -- he bolted as soon as the buzzer went off, ran his mile, and he was drinking his water and chillin' with Melinda long before Evan, Sophia, and I got back, haha! He rocked it as well! I'm so proud of my boys!
