It was the strangest thing! Wednesday afternoon/evening, he was totally fine. Then just before dinner, he asked if he could have a blanket because he was cold. Weird.... but I got him a sweatshirt, which he said didn't help. So out of curiosity, I checked his temp: 99.8. Elevated, but nothing alarming... but he just sat there shivering and he didn't want to eat, so he sat down on the couch. About 15-20 minutes later, I checked his temp again: 102.8 (!!!). Holy smokes, that was fast!
So he didn't go to school Thursday. He sported a fever the whole day (mostly in the 102 range), rocked the rosy cheeks, and played like nothing was wrong. He was thirsty, but not very hungry. He played computer games, watched TV, had a rest... I didn't even give him Tylenol because he said he wasn't in pain or uncomfortable, so I figured I'd just let the fever do its thing and get rid of whatever he's fighting. Then around 3:30, his temp hit 103.9. At that point, I did give him ibuprofen (no sense in cooking his brain, right?).
He woke up this morning fever free. I hadn't planned to send him to school today, but school was canceled anyway (much to Sean's delight because he was going to miss the class Christmas party, which will probably now be done in January).
So. Here we are. My weekend just turned into a 4-day weekend. Today Sean and I just hung out in our pajamas. We watched a couple of Christmas movies, played games, built Legos... I can't complain.
Next order of business: Somehow retrieve Sean's boots from school so he can play in the snow during the next two weeks!!
This is from a few nights ago: the boys sat and played two games of Zingo together. It was very cute (and entertaining!) |
