3.1 miles.
After dark.
Through a cemetery.
Wearing blue eyeshadow, bright pink lipstick, stretch pants & fishnet stockings.
Nothing but the moon, some battery candles, and neon glowsticks to light the way....
That was my Saturday night.
Kerry & I decked ourselves out in 80's gear and rocked the Headless Horseman 5K in Howell. It was exhilarating! We stuck together on this one so when one needed to walk, we both walked. This was especially true up the many hills. But despite the 40 degree weather, it was an amazing run! The view along the water with the moon and the lights from the houses across the river.... I felt like I could've just gone on forever. For awhile, I even forgot I was running. I've NEVER done that before, ever!
This is my last scheduled race of the season. With the cold coming in, I'm not sure how well my asthma will handle too much outdoor running. But if we get a warm spell sometime during the winter, I wouldn't put it past me to sign up last-minute for a race, just to keep myself motivated.
With the boys at Aunt Janet & Mom's overnight last night (Dan went hunting while I was running), we woke up this morning and started The Great Toy Reorganization and Purge of 2012. It took six hours, but during that time, Dan & I successfully went through every box, bin, and bag of toys in each boy's room and the livingroom. We found things that made us ask each other, "What the heck is this and what does it go to?" Okay, it was mostly me asking that question. Dan was answering, "Honey, that goes to the Star Wars [insert toy here]... learn your toys, woman!"
I know. I know. I should know these things.
The good news is that we completely rearranged Sean's room to make it more spacious. And we found pieces that had been missing from various toys for who knows how long. And we boxed up toys that are no longer played with (mostly because they've been outgrown -- I found a bunch of teething rings and wrist-rattles!!).
So now when Santa visits this Christmas, we'll be ready for him.
And just for kicks, Sean & I "made" cookies tonight (made = took the dough out of the package and put it on the cookie sheet). Here he is -- bearing his orange vampire fangs while baking cookies.
