Today was Sean's first day of Kindergarten. It was only 1/2 day (dismissal was at 12:15) and it was pouring pretty much all morning, so we didn't take any outdoor pictures as I would've liked....

I felt like I should've been all sad and nostalgic... but I couldn't have shed a tear this morning if I wanted to. It didn't feel like a "sad" experience for me. I was excited for him! He's such an amazing kid -- very smart --  and this is his opportunity to move forward! He's so ready for this. There's nothing sad about that.

When we walked into his classroom, he went straight to the table full of name tags, found his, and put it on.

Then he went straight to the floor where the other kids were sitting and the teacher was talking (we weren't late -- not sure why they had already started class?? -- other kids showed up after Sean too).

I think I would've stayed there and watched them all morning if given the opportunity, but Dan less-than-subtly nudged me to get me out of there, haha!

After dropping Sean off at school (I had taken Evan to Pat's before taking Sean to school), I went and got my license renewed -- they required me to renew in person this year because I needed a new picture, and the downpour immediately preceding my arrival at Secretary of State ensured I took a license-worthy picture, complete with wet hair and everything. It's going to look so awesome!

Did some other shopping and came home in time to go get Sean from school. I had my camera at the ready when he was led out of his classroom by his teacher:

He looked so happy!

The kid couldn't tell me a dang thing he did today, but he said he liked it and wants to go back. Whew!

We celebrated his first day by going to lunch with Kerry, Colin, and Jackson where we enjoyed a huge dessert of ice cream and chocolate fudge, on top of a HUGE cookie.

I'm so going to be regretting that come this Saturday when I'm trying to run 3.1 miles and that cookie is STILL sitting in my gut!! Gah!

But the first day of Kindergarten only comes once, so that makes it all okay.
