Sean & I took a road trip yesterday. I "had" to go to Harbor Springs for a meeting (rough life, I know), so I packed him & brought him with me while Evan stayed -- where else? With my mom. (I wonder at what point he's going to start thinking he lives there...).
We left town about 1:00 on Sunday afternoon and arrived at my dad's house a little after 4:00ish. The kid played Angry Birds and Stretchy Monkey the entire car trip! After a short visit and dinner, I had to get to the hotel. I had been telling Sean he had a choice to either stay with his Grandpa & Granny Jackie, or to come with me to the hotel. He insisted that he was staying with Grandpa, so at about 7:00, I left Dad's house without Sean, who was busy teaching Granny Jackie how to play Angry Birds.
At one point I jumped on Facebook and saw this:
Jackie had a Pokemon kid tent so she set that up in the backyard for Sean to play in. There was another picture of him sitting in the tent -- playing Angry Birds.
It was a lovely evening at Boyne, socializing with other board members and relaxing. And apparently, Sean had a great night too: slept in his sleeping bag on the floor next to my dad (Sean's choice! They tried to put him in a bed but he wanted the floor & sleeping bag, hahaha!). This morning, Dad took him to breakfast at the diner, where the waitress made him Angry Birds pancakes & eggs (anyone noticing a theme here?).
After my meeting, I picked up Sean from Dad's and headed home. Looked back soon after we got on the road and....:
You'll notice the Kindle, sitting comfortably in his lap. The Angry Birds were evidently having a rest too. He slept a little less than an hour before he woke up, mentioned that he wanted to drive an airplane (?!), then went right back to playing Angry Birds again.
And because we weren't busy enough this past weekend, I took him to Vacation Bible School tonight at the church up the road from us. We don't attend the church but they invited the whole neighborhood, so I figured why not? He had a great time. I even was able to leave him there so I could come home and put Evan to bed. It's a pirate-themed (Veggie Tales) VBS so it's right up his alley. Here he is enjoying the snack tonight:
Tomorrow, I have to go back to work because I haven't won the Powerball yet. Boo. Hiss.
(For the record, Sean usually doesn't play as much Kindle/Angry Birds as he has these past two days -- he typically gets Kindle time for about 1/2 hour a night before he goes to bed, and sometimes during Evan's nap on weekends. But obviously the rules don't apply when a 3+ hour car trip is involved, much to his delight!)
