Evan Randomness

He still likes to scream. More often in delight these days, rather than out of protest or frustration, thank goodness.  It's ear-piercing but a bit more tolerable than it was before.

He knows warm, cold, and hot and can often tell us when something is warm, cold, or hot.

He can identify several body parts such as eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, ears, head, foot...

He can put on his own sandals (but not his tennis shoes), and he can remove his own shoes & socks, which he does quite often while we're in the car on the way to somewhere.

As of today, he weighs approximately 29 pounds, meaning he hasn't gained anything since his appointment in April. I'm good with that for now. He's in the throes of toddler pickiness when it comes to food so I think he's surviving mostly on baby fat and bananas these days.

Speaking of food -- he'll eat fruits & vegetables with much more enthusiasm than meat or bread. NO idea where he gets that from because I don't think either Dan or myself really likes fruits & vegetables. We eat them because they're healthy but if I could live on bread & Mt. Dew, I'd be set for life. Evan also likes cheese & yogurt.

He has a favorite blanket. Sean never attached himself to anything like that so I find it sickeningly cute that Evan went all "Linus" on us and has a security object.

His words are often surprisingly clear (I know I've said that before but seriously, it's true). Makes for some very boring Evansims because, you know, monkey is monkey, cookie is cookie, and juice is juice. But not everything is that clear. My current fave Evanisms are:

  • "Babyek" = blanket (although during the past couple weeks, he's saying "bay-ket" so it's sounding more intelligible)
  • "Mee-maw" = Grandma
  • "Bone" = spoon
  • "Fawney" = funny
  • "Faffle" = waffle
  • "Neena" = banana
  • "Saan" = Sean
  • "Ah-ven" = Evan
