Sean is supposed to start Kindergarten in the fall. However, the "where" and the "how" seems to be more of a project than I anticipated it'd be.

Plan A was (is) to sell our house and move to a different school district. But knowing that's more or less beyond our control, we went right to work with a Plan B.

With the closure of the local highly-ranked elementary school, I am pretty adamant that Sean will not attend the public schools here. I'd keep him in preschool another year before I enroll him in the public schools at this point.

No problem. I'll just enroll him into a charter school (aka: Plan B).

HA! Easier said than done, it turns out.

Charter School #1 -- he started out 45th on the waiting list! Yes, forty-fifth! After the Kindergarten Roundup, he moved up to #27. Better, but I'm still not rushing out to buy a uniform or anything.

Charter School #2 -- I truly believed this would be a sure thing. They had 15 available Kindergarten spots and only 19 eligible applications. That means he had an almost 80% chance of his name being drawn in the lottery. You'll notice I'm writing in past tense....  Yep. I sat right there and watched as they drew 15 names that weren't Sean. He was the 17th name drawn, which means he's #2 on the waiting list. Better than #27, yes. But I'm not rushing out to buy a uniform or anything.

And so.... here we are.... on to Plan C.

Time to devise a Plan C.

Plan C could mean keeping him in preschool another year. It could mean private school (Christian or Catholic school). It could mean continuing to apply and add our names to the waiting list at other charter schools. It could mean trying for a local school-of-choice.

There isn't enough Dew in the world for this.....
