STUFF THAT HAPPENED IN JULY

Ok time to catch up again!!

JULY 4

Dan, Evan, and I hit the road to pick Sean up from Mystic Lake. My eyes leaked when I saw him but I'm certain it was from the dust. Yes. The dust. It was really dusty there. And lots of weeds. Allergies, man! My eyes were just a tearing right up.

JULY 11

Color Run Day! Me and the boys all did it, along with Liz and our friend Alexa. Evan mostly walked it and I walked it with him. He ran here & there.... but then he got super overwhelmed and I had to carry him for probably 2 of the 3 miles. Ok confession: we took a shortcut and ended up catching up with Sean so the boys and I finished together. Sean totally enjoyed the color. Evan, not as much.

OTHER THINGS ABOUT JULY

Dan had a changeover.
I took the boys to the beach.
We played at the playground.
We went on bike rides.
We ate popscicles and ice cream.

I finished physical therapy for my knees, then had an MRI on the 28th on my left knee, which revealed early osteoarthritis, Runners Knee, a small meniscus tear, and a small cyst on the backside of my knee. Four relatively minor things that, together, are turning my left knee into a big jerk. I was going to try to tough it out without injections, but ultimately, I still want to do the Vegas half marathon in November, and the two Star Wars half marathons in January & April. So the awesome sports med doctor -- whose job is to keep me running as long as I want to -- is going to give me arthritis injections starting the end of September. He seems confident these will keep me pain free (as long as I keep doing my strengthening exercises and taking care of myself) for at least a year, so I can do the few half marathons I want to do. I told him that once I'm done with these, I'm good. I want to keep running 5K's and 10K's but I won't feel the need to do another half marathon, or even a full marathon.

I honestly feel pretty accomplished! I never in a million years envisioned myself as a runner -- let alone a half marathoner! So quite honestly, I already know I'm a badass. But I still want to do these fun half marathons because STAR WARS BLING!
