I went for two outside runs so far this week! They were short runs (2.5 miles and 3.1 miles), but they were OUTSIDE!! Not on an indoor track, treadmill, or elliptical. I forgot what it felt like to run outside. Turns out, I'm a little rusty, despite my best efforts to keep in shape over the winter. But I got it done.
The boys are definitely enjoying the warmer weather too. They've been able to go outside at school for recess now. It's pretty wet out, with all the melting snow, but I'm pretty sure they barely notice it. Wet pants & feet are a small price to pay for being outside where it's sunny and there is tons of room to run and play.
Unfortunately, I think it's supposed to cool off a bit next weekend, back down into the 30's as a high. But I'm enjoying this while I got it, doggone it.
And in other news, I attempted to make cake balls. "Attempted" is the operative word here, because they ended up looking more like balls of dog crap. And when I "attempted" to dip them in white chocolate, I burned the first batch of chocolate (didn't know chocolate could burn). So I melted more white chocolate; but when I "attempted" to dip them in the not-burned white chocolate, the balls fell apart. So they ended up looking more like dried out poop balls -- very aesthetically unpleasing. And thus endeth my attempt at making cake balls. All future cake balls will be purchased from a qualified baker.
Homemade poo balls. Anyone hungry? |
I also took the boys to see the newer Annie movie last weekend, along with Kerry, Colin, and Jackson. They loved it. Well, Sean did. Evan is still not a good movie-goer. He tries, I know he does. He really wants to like it. But about 45 minutes in, he was all, "Mommy, when is the movie done?" Then he's all, "Mommy I want some more juice." Then he's all, "Mommy, I gotta go potty." So we ended up leaving the theater like 2-3 times for one thing or another. He was on my lap, then off my lap, then back on my lap... He just doesn't have it in him to sit through a movie yet. Except Lucky Duck, apparently. Mom says he'll sit through Lucky Duck without so much as a twitch. That said, I thought the new Annie was totally adorable and fun!
At least the theater had reclining seats... |
