After an extra FOUR days off school (December 20th, plus January 6, 7, and 8), Sean finally went back to school today. I learned today that his school budgets for five snow days per year. With four of them already used by early January, it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up having to extend the school year a bit. Especially with the way this winter is going.
On the upside, it was kind of a fun few days off. Monday, neither Sean nor I ever got out of our pajamas all day. Evan did. He got dressed several times because he likes to pick out his clothes now and dress himself. Nevermind that the outfit rarely matches, and he wants to wear short-sleeved t-shirts when it's 30 below zero. He's gonna pick his clothes and get dressed by himself, dang it!
I assembled a couple of tents in their room on Monday to play in -- complete with tunnels -- which took up their whole room...
But for the most part, they were perfectly content to run around the house inside the tunnels...
We also went outside Monday for a bit of fresh air. I intended to blow some bubbles with the boys to watch them freeze mid-air, but it was too windy and they just flew away and burst. It wasn't fascinating. I also made some water balloons with food coloring to make "ice globes" so we put those outside to freeze...
By then it had been 90 seconds and that was enough fresh air for us. My lungs were on fire and the boys' faces were red. It was time to go in. And...well... umm.... I never did take the balloons off the ice globes.
Too. Dang. Cold.
So they're still out there in the balloons.
