I cannot believe it's July already. Seems like just yesterday, it was January. You know, warm & sunny.... But here we are. The year is half over, the days are getting shorter & hotter, and before I know it I'm going to be Christmas shopping. Gah!
Evan actually spent last week at the same daycare/school where Sean goes. Pat is on vacation and Sean's daycare had a spot available for him for the week, so we decided to give this a shot. Other than the horrendous drop-offs (because he's just at that age anyway), he had a wonderful week! He played, he ate, and he even slept -- on a cot! -- like a champ. And I must admit, I did love the convenience of a single drop-off at a school very close to my work.
But I also must admit... I miss Pat. And I'm pretty certain Evan does too.
It's been super hot here -- in the 90's consistently -- and freakin' dry as a bone. So this morning, before it became too unbearable, we watered the boys while letting the lawn sit under the sprinkler. Then Dan decided to water the climber -- a homemade water slide! Sean was a big fan!
Evan.... not so much.
He does not like getting hit with water under circumstances beyond his control. We don't have a pool (I swore we did, but Dan says no), and the bathtub is too big to fit down the stairs. So Dan grabbed a big bucket, put some water in it, and plunked the boy in there. After the initial shock of the unknown, and when he realized that the evil sprinkler wasn't sprinkling on him there, he sat happily in the tub scooping up the water with a shovel and pouring it out onto the ground. And when it was time to get out, he didn't do so without a fight....
Holiday work-week starts tomorrow! I'm looking forward to having Wednesday off, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the fireworks being over. They're going off every stinkin' night in our neighborhood, and some of them are so loud that they're making the lights light up on Evan's baby monitor (!).
