Memorial Day weekend = Trip up north for another comic-con (because, you know, we're just that cool to attend two comic-cons in two weekends) and a visit with Dan's parents.

We left town about 3:00 Friday afternoon, and while the traffic was heavier than normal, it wasn't totally awful or anything. I think it would've been worse had we waited until Friday night to leave. We arrived at Dan's folks around 6:30, visited till about 9:30, then went to our hotel where we crashed for the night.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well we all slept in a one-room hotel room -- all four of us. We didn't crawl out of bed until after 7am. It was lovely.

Saturday we went to the comic-con. This one is significantly smaller than the Motor City Comic-Con we went to last weekend, so we took Evan with us knowing we wouldn't be there too long. Sean loved the characters. Evan wasn't scared, but he certainly wasn't about to go walking right up to them or anything.

Afterward, we decided to take the boys to the beach to see the water. Sean loved, loved, loved it!!

Evan.... not so much....

Evan hated the feel of the sand on his feet, on his hands.... he just was not a fan.

Since Evan is not quite the easy traveler Sean was/is, we decided start the 3-hour trip home at 8pm in hopes that Evan would sleep most of the way (we figured Sean would play on his LeapPad like he did on the way up). I was shocked when Sean fell asleep 10-15 minutes into the trip while Evan was awake for a good hour & a half! Thankfully, Evan was tired enough that he wasn't crying or screaming or antsy. He just sat there holding his blanket and looking out the window until he couldn't keep his eyes open any longer.

We arrived home at a little after 11pm and both boys went easily to bed (I even changed Evan's diaper, and Dan put a Pull-Up on Sean) without a peep.

Today, the boys had their first babysitter that wasn't family or daycare. Dan & I had tickets to see Cirque this afternoon, along with Mom, Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt Janet (ie: everyone we'd call to watch them if we needed someone to watch them). A little girl I used to babysit, Christine, is home from college for the summer so I hired her to watch the boys during our day-date. They did awesome! Evan slept through most of it, while Sean & Christine played. And when we got home at 4pm, I walked in to hear Evan laughing hysterically from being tickled. Awesome, awesome, awesome! First babysitting experience was a success! Good to know.....  Really good to know.....
