Six months ago today, Mr. Sean turned four. And in six months from today, he will turn five. Crazy.

We celebrated Sean's half birthday by taking a trip to the pediatric emergency room. I received a call from his school/daycare around 11am to tell me he'd taken a tumble -- head-first -- off a climber, about 4 feet high. He landed on his forehead. Hard. He was acting okay and didn't seem to be injured.... but better safe than sorry, especially with a head injury. So off I went to collect him and take him to be seen.

By the time we got to the hospital, he was acting totally normal. Smiling, running to where his Daddy was standing, asking questions, and wanting so badly to play with the toys in the pediatric waiting room. He was Sean. But we stuck around anyway because after a fall like that, we decided you can't be too careful. We weren't there long. We were visited by a wonderful head trauma doctor who assured us that Sean is perfect. He didn't even recommend a CT Scan because the risks would've outweighed the benefits in Sean's case. He had absolutely no concerns and recommended we just go home and watch him for the afternoon. If he were going to have any issues, we'd notice in the next 4-6 hours.

Darn. I had to take an afternoon off and enjoy it with one of the coolest kids in the world. He got a Happy Meal for lunch. And we played with cars. He requested macaroni & cheese for dinner and who was I to deny him that? So mac & cheese it was.

Six hours later, Sean was still Sean, but with a headache. Imagine that.

I want to document his stats but it's 10:30 and I need to go to bed. Sean's good health -- while a relief for sure -- means I have to go to work in the morning.
