STUFF THAT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER...

.... besides birthdays.

SEPT 1

Sean & Evan had dentist appointments. Both of them have very healthy teeth! No cavities!

SEPT 2

We attended the boys' back-to-school open house. Saw their classrooms and teachers. Evan was a bit overwhelmed but he got through it. (as an aside, he's very much enjoying Kindergarten now, and he's apparently doing VERY well! The teacher recently informed me that he's at the top of the class for many subjects!)

SEPT 8

First day of school! (and Sean's birthday of course)

Normally I take the boys to Cheddar's for lunch after the first day of school, but since it was Sean's birthday and we were going out to dinner (at Red Robin -- his choice!), we opted to eat lunch at home.  It was a fun afternoon though!

SEPT 13

A celebration of September family birthdays!! Sean, myself, and The Evanator! We had a birthday breakfast at Mom's house followed by presents. The boys got roller skates.

And I got roller skates! And a coloring book! And colored pencils! Not sure if I turned 9 or 39 but it was a super fun birthday!

SEPT 20

Capital City River Run Marathon Relay! I was one of five team members to complete a leg of a 26.2 mile marathon. I had the last and longest leg at 7.25 miles. It was the longest run I'd done since the November 2014 half marathon and it turns out, I'm still dang proud of myself for doing this!

SEPT 26

We had the boys' birthday party at Jumpin' Jax. Not gonna lie: I was slightly disappointed in how everything played out. The venue wasn't as great as I'd hoped (they're under new ownership) and only 11 kids showed up out of over 50 invited! But the boys had a blast which is all that really matters.

After the birthday party, I had to take Sophia back to Judy's. So the boys got to try their hand at fishing in the small pond behind Judy's apartment. Sean caught a small pond fish (though he likes to tell people he caught a large mouth bass -- he'll make a GREAT fisherman some day!!), then freaked out trying to get it back in the water. But the fishy did make it back home. And that was the only bite they got that day.

SEPT 27

The Evanator turns 5. See previous post for details!

SEPT 28

I had my first of five knee injections. It's really not so bad. Little poke & a burn, but then the lidocaine kicks in and I feel nothing. And then I continue feeling nothing for a few blissful hours! No pain. Me likey!

SEPT 29

The boys had eye appointments. They strengthened Evan's glasses prescription and Sean is still color blind (excuse me: color deficient according to the ophthalmologist -- not color blind). But overall, both sets of eyes are very healthy!

SEPT 30

I ran the Relentless Positive Traction 5K downtown. Dan ran this one with me last year, but he hasn't been running much lately so he didn't do it this time. I actually made pretty decent time according to my Garmin -- the race wasn't chip timed, it was just a fun run. And it came with BLING! Unfortunately, I have zero pics from that race! I'm kinda surprised because I typically take a medal pic after races that come with bling.

STUFF THAT HAPPENED IN AUGUST

AUGUST 1

Warrior Dash!! Not much else to say about that. Took us about an hour-ish to complete and the obstacles were fun! Can't wait to do it again next year!

AUGUST 15

Running Between the Vines 5K. This was the second of three in the Thirsty Three series and we got a wine glass and wine stopper as part of the swag/bling. It was a gorgeous day but I just wasn't in the running mindframe that day, so I was very slow. Walked a lot. That said, I got it done and it was time on my feet so it all counts as training.

AUGUST 14-16

Dan's brother and his wife and kids came to visit! Was an amazing few days! I hadn't seen the nephews in a couple years and Sean & Evan LOVED spending time with their cousins. When they left Sunday night, Sean sobbed uncontrollable and made me promise to take him to Texas at some point.

While they were here, we went to the children's museum, a local art fair (it was kinda lame, really), the fish ladder, and for ice cream!

OTHER THINGS ABOUT AUGUST

I took the boys roller skating and they both loved it! Sean is becoming pretty amazing on roller blades, and Evan prefers the Fisher Price skates that he can wear over his regular shoes.

Michael and Maddie came to visit for the day at the end of August, which was fun!

We also went swimming at Kerry's house.
I ran.
We started preparing for back-to-school.

When I look at my August calendar and Facebook, there really isn't a lot there other than what I already mentioned. I think we had a relatively quiet August.

September, on the other hand.....

Bad Mommy! Bad bad bad! (okay, more like bad computer -- but seriously, in this 21st century age of technology, there really is no reason for me to not update this blog more often -- especially since my children are growing in leaps and bounds and I want to soak it all up).

Ok so Evan is now 5 and I need to get this out there:

Height/Weight: Evan is slightly under 42 inches tall and he's 38 pounds.

Wearing: Size 3T/4T pants (some of his 3T pants are just now becoming too short); size 4-5 shirts; size 9/10 shoes. And the cutest little Ray Ban glasses ever.

Eating: Ugh. He eats hardly anything, but enough to maintain, apparently.

Sleeping: He goes to bed around 8pm on school nights, though I don't think he falls asleep until closer to 9:00, and I have to wake him up around 7am for school. On week nights, we let the boys stay up until 8:30-9:00 and they typically sleep until 7:30-8:00.

Miscellaneous: He's still totally into police officers, fire fighters, ambulances (which he still pronounces "am-blee-ance"), and any other emergency vehicle or person.

He likes to build things with Legos, and he loves creating and playing out scenes using action figures, Playmobile figures, blocks, etc....  And he loves dressing up in costumes!!!

Sitting still -- not his favorite thing to do.

He still loves cuddling and is attached to his 'fuzzy blankie.' I happily oblige, of course.
